Taking place in Khan el-Khalili, the big bazaar in the heart of Cairo. Our main character is looking for an angel and a miracle… Forgiveness and retribution are the theme in this one.
The story is narrated in second-person, which I find really hard to like as a reader.
Straight forward story, not much in terms of plot, more of a small character study. It was ok.
If you want to find the Angel of Khan el-Khalili, you have to make your way to the market at night.

Do you have more works lined up from this author? Or is this part of an anthology? The premise sounds pretty compelling.

Tomorrow I will post the review of The Haunting of Tram Car 015. That‘s the longest of these three novelettes/novellas.
And in June I will read his first full-length novel, Master of Djinn, set in the same world. Three of those four works will be my June submission for our #ReadPOC2021 TBR pile.
His short story „The Secret Lives of the Nine Negro Teeth of George Washington“ won a Nebula in 2018 or was a finalist—not sure right now. It was my first story written by him. Ring Shout is supposed to be good as well, but I haven‘t read it yet.

This one is pretty short, only about 40 pages, so it‘s bearable…
