The Strangest Fish
by Katherine Arden (Author), Zahra Marwan (illustrator)
Daisy wins a real fish at the fair. October is the best fish. October keeps growing fast. From outgrowing a fish bowl to a bucket to the bathtub…
Short, but cute. Weird is ok. Love counts. Nice, dreamy watercolor artwork with adorable details.

I read and liked the first two Small Spaces stories by Katherine Arden, so this picture book with a fish was an insta-grab.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to give a positive review.

This book reminds me of A Fish Out of Water which was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Had no idea that that book was written by Dr. Seuss’s wife! Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Arrr!

The art that you shared really is pretty! I love it when authors are able to span audiences like this. I’ve only read Arden’s MG series, but it’s so cool that she can write adult and children’s books equally well.

I also just started her Dark Waters. The characters in that series have really grown on me.

I liked that series a ton! The second one is still my favorite of the 4-book series, but that’s because I really enjoy haunted house stories.

Haunted House are not really my cup of tea, but I liked #2 as well.

It’s weird, but haunted houses are one of the few horror tropes that I’m a little better with than most. (Especially the tame versions, but I’m more likely to try them than other horror tropes.)
